Come experience the world of heroic fantasy. The core of D&D is storytelling.
You and your friends tell a story together, guiding your heroes through quests for treasure, battles with deadly foes, daring rescues, courtly intrigue, and much more. Those who dip their toes in the waters of D&D usually end up a lifelong player. Have you ever wanted to build and design whatever you want, but don’t know where to start? Then CAD club is the choice for you. This club will teach you the basics of 3d modeling and design, why we use it, how to communicate your design ideas, the engineering design process, and teach you how to 3D model solutions to problems.
This club is a blend of critical thinking skills, creativity, and the ability to think of unique solutions. If you’re interested in engineering, animation, architecture, and more, then 3D modeling is a great and easy way to start. Whether you're an experienced writer or just starting out, the Creative Writing Club will offer you a space to do what you love! You and your friends will be given various tips and tricks on how to write everything from stories to poems to short films. We'll do character work, plot development, and silly little exercises that allow you the freedom to create whatever you want. Feel free to bring your own pre-existing projects. National History Day is an excellent program that allows middle school and high school students to research a historical topic of their choice and create a multimedia submission about their research. This year’s theme is “Revolution, Reaction, Reform in History.” Students will have the chance to present their research and compete at the Fairfield County History Day Competition, and, if they qualify, the Connecticut State Competition and even the national contest in Washington, D.C.. Led by 2025 Fairfield County and Connecticut first-place winner and National Contest eighth-place winner in the senior paper division.

A unique opportunity not typically open to middle school students, our amazing High School leaders will be teaching the basics and beyond. Teens will have the opportunity to engage in various ASL activities that will teach them the basics of the language, including the ABCs, colors, the essentials of basic conversation, descriptions, and more, as well as learning the essentials of deaf culture. This is a fun low-key environment to learn something new alongside friends. No experience necessary. Get ready to rock! These fun and energetic pop-up Drum Lessons introduce kids to the exciting world of drumming. Through hands-on activities and easy-to-follow instruction, young learners will develop rhythm, coordination, and musical confidence. Students will explore basic drum techniques, simple patterns, and even learn to play along with their favorite songs. Perfect for beginners, this class encourages creativity and builds a strong foundation for future musical growth — no experience needed!

Have you ever watched a movie and thought, wow! That was amazing! How did they do that? In this class taught by two high school film expert editors, Will and Sydney, you will learn tricks and skills of the trade to understand the basics of video editing. Using industry grade free software, Davinci Resolve, you will learn many things such as how to let music dictate a story, the motivations of a “cut”, basic color grading, basic visual effects, and more! You will create a short video to showcase the skills you learned! This course will help develop or build upon your love for film, and appreciation for the hidden art of editing. COLBY FOWLER: Avid angler in both fresh and saltwater - over 13 years of experience. 5th place winner in 2024 World’s Greatest Bluefish Tournament for the under 18 category. 2024 NEBassin kayak tournament trail angler. Has participated in many tournaments, some of which include the World's Greatest Bluefish Tournament, and NEBassin kayak bass fishing league. Had the biggest fish in multiple events + many high leaderboard finishes. |
A "REELY" BIG HIT @TRACKSIDE. More than just a 'club', join two WHS accomplished fishermen with deep experiences - (and awards!) as they teach you all about fishing and beyond. Students will learn information about water safety, different bodies of water, effective ways to catch fish, different species of water creatures, and much more all whilst fishing themselves. This is a highly instructional experience open to those with any level of experience. Students must be able to focus, adhere to safe fishing practices and follow instruction. Students will meet at Trackside after school but fishing will take place OFF SITE in a variety of local waters. Campers are highly encouraged to bring their own equipment, however backups will be provided to those without. We look forward to getting lines tight! Travel waivers necessary - to be completed before first class. This Fall, Trackside’s NHRL Robotics Club will give students the chance to design, build, and compete with their own combat robots. Led by high school students who compete in robotics themselves, members will work individually or in small groups to create their battle bots using real tools and materials. They’ll learn hands-on skills in engineering, design, and problem-solving as they prepare their robots to face off in competitions inspired by the National Havoc Robot League. This club is best suited for kids who can focus, work well in a team, and are ready for high-energy, hands-on challenges. The Middlebrook Science Olympiad team is a place for curious minds, future scientists, and creative problem solvers. Through hands-on activities and collaborative challenges, students will prepare throughout the year for a state-wide competition in March, where they will compete in teams across 23 events spanning a wide range of scientific disciplines, from anatomy and physiology to meteorology, to forensics and engineering. Led by high school Science Olympiad competitors, members will learn, build, and experiment, in a supportive environment that encourages teamwork, critical thinking, and innovation. Ultimate is a fun and energetic non-contact sport open to players of all skill levels. Players will learn the basics of the game, new ways of throwing the frisbee and different strategies.
