National History Day is an excellent program that allows middle school and high school students to research a historical topic of their choice and create a multimedia submission about their research. This year’s theme is “Revolution, Reaction, Reform in History.” Students will have the chance to present their research and compete at the Fairfield County History Day Competition, and, if they qualify, the Connecticut State Competition and even the national contest in Washington, D.C.. Led by 2025 Fairfield County and Connecticut first-place winner and National Contest eighth-place winner in the senior paper division.

Have you ever watched a movie and thought, wow! That was amazing! How did they do that? In this class taught by two high school film expert editors, Will and Sydney, you will learn tricks and skills of the trade to understand the basics of video editing. Using industry grade free software, Davinci Resolve, you will learn many things such as how to let music dictate a story, the motivations of a “cut”, basic color grading, basic visual effects, and more! You will create a short video to showcase the skills you learned! This course will help develop or build upon your love for film, and appreciation for the hidden art of editing. A "REELY" BIG HIT @TRACKSIDE. More than just a 'club', join two WHS accomplished fishermen with deep experiences - (and awards!) as they teach you all about fishing and beyond. Students will learn information about water safety, different bodies of water, effective ways to catch fish, different species of water creatures, and much more all whilst fishing themselves. This is a highly instructional experience open to those with any level of experience. Students must be able to focus, adhere to safe fishing practices and follow instruction. Students will meet at Trackside after school but fishing will take place OFF SITE in a variety of local waters. Campers are highly encouraged to bring their own equipment, however backups will be provided to those without. We look forward to getting lines tight! This Fall, Trackside’s NHRL Robotics Club will give students the chance to design, build, and compete with their own combat robots. Led by high school students who compete in robotics themselves, members will work individually or in small groups to create their battle bots using real tools and materials. They’ll learn hands-on skills in engineering, design, and problem-solving as they prepare their robots to face off in competitions inspired by the National Havoc Robot League. This club is best suited for kids who can focus, work well in a team, and are ready for high-energy, hands-on challenges. The Middlebrook Science Olympiad team is a place for curious minds, future scientists, and creative problem solvers. Through hands-on activities and collaborative challenges, students will prepare throughout the year for a state-wide competition in March, where they will compete in teams across 23 events spanning a wide range of scientific disciplines, from anatomy and physiology to meteorology, to forensics and engineering.
