Join two WHS accomplished fishermen with deep experiences - (and awards!) as they teach you all about fishing and beyond.
Students will learn information about water safety, different bodies of water, effective ways to catch fish, different species of water creatures, and much more all whilst fishing themselves. This is a highly instructional experience open to those with any level of experience. Students must be comfortable going off-site, demonstrate good maturity, be able to focus & follow instruction and adhere to safe fishing practices. Students will meet at Trackside after school but fishing will take place OFF SITE in a variety of local waters. Campers are highly encouraged to bring their own equipment, however backups will be provided to those without. We look forward to getting lines tight! Travel waivers necessary - to be completed before first class. In a world caught up in social and global issues, it is now more crucial than ever to teach future generations how to passionately, yet respectfully, express their opinions to others.
Debaters will learn how to navigate opposing perspectives, critical thinking, and public speaking in order to equip debaters with lifelong skills. When competing in tournaments, debaters will be able to display their skills, compete for awards, and make friends with fellow debaters all across the state! Novice or open, debaters will work in a supportive and collaborative environment with the shared interest of a variety of things. The Wilton Garden Club and Trackside Teen Center team up annually to offer the Green Teens program for middle & high school students.
Led by experienced gardeners from the Wilton Garden Club, students participate in hands-on activities of designing garden beds, planting, maintaining, harvesting as well as learning how to cook with the produce grown in their gardens. The produce grown is donated to the Wilton Food Pantry and the fresh flowers are cut and arranged for the local Senior Center. Calling all teen foodies! This hands-on cooking club is designed for teens in grades 7–9 who truly enjoy being in the kitchen and want to build real cooking skills. In this fast-paced class, participants will prepare a variety of sweet and savory dishes—from homemade pizza and pasta to decadent desserts. This is a working kitchen environment, so participants should come ready to roll up their sleeves, follow recipes and collaborate with their peers.
