The Trackside robotics club focuses on designing, building and coding a robot that is able to compete in real competitions and scrimmages through VEX Robotics.
Members will learn how to work as a team, in addition to learning the basics of coding, engineering, and designing, as well as learning how to problem solve. This club is a fun introduction to the complexities of robotics! Robotics club is best suited for kids who can focus & want to learn how to build a robot & prepare for competition. Must be able to use tools safely (with supervision) and work well in a small group, with 2 incredibly enthusiastic and knowledgeable high school leaders. **THIS IS THE SECOND HALF OF A DOUBLE SESSION THAT BEGAN IN FALL. D&D is a core offering at Trackside and for good reason.
Come experience the world of heroic fantasy. The core of D&D is storytelling. You and your friends tell a story together, guiding your heroes through quests for treasure, battles with deadly foes, daring rescues, courtly intrigue, and much more. Those who dip their toes in the waters of D&D usually end up a lifelong player. For beginners, our dungeon masters walk you through the entire experience, once you've got the basics down, you can level up to our more experienced group. This Winter we're offering FOUR Groups. Limit 5 students per group. MONDAYS: 3:30 - 5:15 pm (8 weeks) 1. Beginner Middle School Group 2. Experienced Middle School Group MONDAYS 5:30 - 7:15 pm (8 weeks) 3. Experienced High School Group 4. Cold winter weather outside? No problem! We’ve got just the thing to keep your middle-schooler active! Our super staffer, Sid Suneja will be leading competitors each week in fun, active, and sometimes delicious challenges. Whether you are eating gummy worms out of a pile of whipped cream with your mouth, racing to build the tallest snowman outside, competing to keep a balloon in the air for the longest time, or winning rounds of knockout hoops. Each team will earn points towards a championship in this 8 week insanely fun Olympic style club. Bound to be a blast. Join the coolest club in town. Bring your own tech deck and then get ready to upgrade it, customize it & have some serious fun. You'll build custom obstacles and work towards creating a master obstable course and skatepark. The club ends with a competition to show off your skills and tricks.
Week 1: Bring your board. Add grip tape & learn how to make your own custom bushings for more turning capability. Week 2: Begin making your own tech deck from scratch. Week 3: Complete your custom tech deck with artistic design. Week 4 Begin make a custom obstacles + skate time. Week 5: Custom obstacles + skate time. Week 6: Begin assembling obstacles for master course. Week 7: Work on Master Skatepark. Preplay at Trackside is a well-oiled machine, run by our talented high school leaders who are filled with passion, knowledge & experience. This is an incredible opportunity to learn & practice the art of IMPROV, which has many benefits. There's lots of laughter at Trackside on IMPROV days! The chess board will be out every week, but other games of strategy will be introduced such as Othello, Scrabble & more. Inspired by kids. Casino club comes together to learn how to play various casino-themed games such as poker, billiards, Texas Hold'em, etc. Each week covers a game of skill & chance. A unique opportunity not typically open to middle school students, our amazing High School leaders will be teaching the basics and beyond. Members will have the opportunity to engage in various ASL activities that will teach them the basics of the language, including the ABCs, colors, the essentials of basic conversation, descriptions, and more, as well as learning the essentials of deaf culture. Engaging and fun activities and games like "Telephone" and "Prize in the Pot" will connect students through learning and laughter! This program is best suited for students able to focus, work well in a group or by yourself. It's a great continuation of our Fall ASL Club. No experience needed. Come join the Middlebrook Quiz Bowl Club at Trackside! We offer an exciting opportunity for middle schoolers to develop your passion in a group that makes learning fast-paced, thrilling, and rewarding! Quiz bowl is a fun, dynamic, friendly academic competition involving students collaborating in teams to answer trivia-style buzzer questions against others with a similar passion. There will be opportunities to compete against other schools across the country! Join a welcoming, tightly-woven community of fellow quiz bowlers.
